Reid Highway Principal Shared Path (PSP)

Mirrabooka Avenue to Camboon Road

Background

We engaged Abigroup Contractors to build a Principal Shared Path (PSP) along Reid Highway, from Mirrabooka Avenue to Camboon Road.  Costing $5.5m, the new path caters for cyclists and pedestrians and was completed in June 2012.

The path links Mirrabooka Avenue to Camboon Road, via the existing bridge at Northwood Avenue. Covering more than 3 km, it  provides a vital link between existing east-west and north-south cycle routes which are part of the Department of Transport’s Perth Bicycle Network.

It also provides an alternative route for the community to access surrounding local facilities such as Mirrabooka Square shopping centre, Polytechnic West, Herb Graham Recreation Centre, St Andrew’s Grammar School, Morley Senior High School and Malaga industrial area.

Where the path was built at road level, adjacent to Reid Highway between Northwood and Alexander Drives it has been fenced with wire rope barriers to ensure the safety of cyclists, pedestrians and motorists.  The path is also illuminated to current Australian Standards to enable it to be used safely after dark.
