Stoneville Road- Mundaring Weir Road to Mann Street

 

Project Overview

The project was put in place to  significantly improve pedestrian and traffic safety in the busy Mundaring town site and business precinct on Great Eastern Highway.

With funding from the State Government and a contribution from the Shire of Mundaring, we engaged a contractor to undertake a series of improvements along Great Eastern Highway, between the intersections at Stoneville Road - Mundaring Weir Road and Mann Street.

The project involved:

  • extending the right-turn pocket into Mann Street for westbound traffic;
  • upgrading the median islands with new kerbing, brick paving and planter boxes;
  • improved lighting and drainage;
  • fencing along the median island and two new designated pedestrian crossings; and
  • increased verge parking facilities.

Benefits

Upon completion, the project:

  • improved vehicle storage capacity and resurfacing at the intersection;
  • improved safety for motorists and pedestrians;
  • increased verge parking facilities;
  • facilitated more efficient and safe pedestrian crossing to meet the latest disability standards.
