Respecting our Roads

This year, Keep Australia Beautiful Week 2019 is encouraging all Australians to respect our roadsides.

Refuse or litter discarded from your vehicle or an unsecured load poses a risk to other motorists and is dangerous to native flora and fauna.

When transporting any materials, check your load is secure before you take off.

To secure your load:

  • Use webbing or straps to restrain cardboard boxes
  • Cover garden refuse with a tarp or trailer net
  • Restrain furniture and white goods with good quality straps

When you travel, we encourage you to be aware of how you collect and thoughtfully dispose of your rubbish. This includes holding on to your rubbish until you can dispose of it in a bin, and not discarding your rubbish by an overflowing bin.

Getting Involved

Local communities are encouraged to run local litter clean-ups in their area – find out how on the Keep Australia Beautiful website .

If you see someone littering, you can report it .

Keep Australia Beautiful Week runs from 19 – 25 August
