Wheels in motion for bike path construction

‚ÄčAn extension to the Principal Shared Path (PSP) along the Fremantle railway line from Grant Street to Victoria Street Station will construct the missing section in Cottesloe.

The 2.8 kilometre project, makes up the first two stages of the entire extension and will significantly improve connectivity and safety for residents and visitors to the Town of Cottesloe.

The path will separate pedestrians and cyclists from motorists to ensure everyone is able to travel safely and provide important connections to train stations, Mosman Park Activity Centre and Cottesloe Primary School.

Construction is due to commence in December 2018, with completion anticipated by June 2019.

The Minister for Transport said prioritising construction of the missing link will address safety and accessibility concerns by providing a continuous off-road facility between Perth and Fremantle, reducing the potential for conflict with road traffic and providing a high-quality link to key tourist attractions.

She said the transport agencies had been working closely with the Town of Cottesloe to create a design that is suitable to the surrounding environment, with the general alignment to the west of the railway line and the east of Curtin Avenue.
