The latest update following TC Veronica

Highways in and out of Port Hedland have re-opened to all vehicles under caution following emergency repairs over the weekend.

Heavy flooding last week to North West Coastal Highway between Roebourne and Port Hedland meant emergency crews could only access the link on Friday. Sections were also severely damaged by water.

During the past week while crews were mopping up debris and repairing section of Great Northern and North West Coastal highways, 175 permits were issued to enable essential supplies like food and fuel through to the far North West.

Temporary repair works will continue. More permanent repairs to the network will begin in about a month once the very wet ground conditions have dried out.
