Transport Hack teams tackle solutions to WA transport woes

Five challenges.

One weekend.

One winning team.

The Ministry of Data, together with the Transport Portfolio agencies, Department of Transport, Main Roads and PTA, recently held its first jointly hosted 'Transport Hack' event.

At the start of the weekend, the hackathon teams were presented with five transport challenges from the Transport Portfolio agencies.

Using the data presented to them over the course of the weekend, the teams worked hard to develop a range of creative and original ideas and prototypes.

The weekend concluded with the teams pitching their ideas; 'Rage Reduction Systems', a team made up of software professionals, won first place. They developed an application that monitors and predicts current and future availability of Transperth 'Park and Ride' facilities, using real-time data and a predictive machine-learning algorithm.
