Chester Pass Road roadworks

Chester Pass Road is a key access road and an important freight link connecting the Great Southern Region with the City of Albany. The road also plays an integral role in local traffic movement within the City of Albany. Chester Pass Road contains sections of old pavement which has exceeded its normal design life and requires rehabilitation.

Latest News

We will be undertaking pavement rehabilitation works and drainage improvements on both sides of Chester Pass Road from Chester Pass Road roundabout (where the road intersects with Albany Highway) to just north of Hudson Road, approximately 1.2 km.

Works will be undertaken on all four lanes as a staged construction process over a 10 week period. The works involve rehabilitating the existing gravel pavement, sealing and asphalt surfacing and will include improvements to all driveway crossovers (up to the property boundaries).

Prior to any major construction works, our contractors will contact property owners within close proximity of the site to offer pre-construction building inspections. If you are contacted, we encourage you to take up this offer as it is your protection in the unlikely event of any property damage. These inspections will take place approximately one month prior to adjacent road work commencing.

Traffic impact

Delays are likely to occur during these works.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction with traffic management and speed restrictions in place.

Detours may also be required for side streets.

In addition, access to individual driveway’s will be lost for short periods of time as work occurs adjacent to each property, with access to adjacent businesses also impacted. We will endeavour to provide access to closed driveways as soon as possible in order to mitigate these closures.

Key Benefits

  • Improved drainage
  • Smoother road surfaces
  • Improved driveway access for local businesses and residents

Key Dates

Works are scheduled to commence in February 2018 and are expected to be completed by April 2018.
