Matagarup Bridge activities

Fancy adventure climbing or zip-lining on Matagarup Bridge this summer?

These activities moved a step closer with the Minister for Transport detailing infrastructure to be installed on the bridge and Burswood Peninsula. Read more in the Media Statement .

To install the new steel, glass and cables required to operate the adventure climb and zip line we will be working on and around Matagarup Bridge from 29 June to October. We will be installing a new Skyview platform in the central bridge arches, a zip-line platform and cables midway up the arches and a zip-line landing platform within Burswood Park.

Matagarup Bridge, carpark and playground impacts

In early July, we will be moving between the Camfield carpark and the centre of Matagarup Bridge to deliver and install materials.

Entry to the Camfield carpark will be closed Monday's, Wednesday's and Friday's between 6am and 10.30am for deliveries. During deliveries the path and park between the carpark and the bridge, including the sensory playground, will have traffic management in place. Please move through the area with caution and follow signs and traffic management directions. No works or deliveries will occur on Optus Stadium event days.

From mid-July, walkway access on Matagarup Bridge will be reduced from nine to three metres using temporary protected walkways. The walkways are the same as those used during arch painting when the bridge was constructed and resemble a tunnel.

As the work progresses, Matagarup Bridge closures will be required for safety, while steel is lifted from the bridge deck overhead into the bridge arches. Details for these week day closures are being finalised.
