Causeway disruptions in and out of the City

Closures and diversions will be in place at the Causeway roundabout as utility works continue on the Waterbank project .

Until the 25 January 2019, the following changes will be in place:

  • Causeway motorists heading into the City will be diverted onto Riverside Drive, to follow detours via Plain Street, Victoria Avenue or Barrack Street.
  • Motorists exiting the City via Adelaide Terrace will need to merge into a single lane with buses just after Plain Street.
  • Riverside Drive will be closed eastbound from Plain Street with signed detours in place. Access has been maintained to On the Point, Embargo and Point Fraser.
  • Access from Hay Street to the Causeway is maintained via a dedicated lane.

Cycle and pedestrian paths across the Causeway are also affected. Signed detours will be in place through Ozone Reserve however access to East Perth may be easier via the Causeway underpass.

What are your options?

Public transport is recommended. The bus lane city bound has been maintained. Please visit the Transperth website for all the information you need to plan your trip.

Walking or cycling is a good alternative. Please be aware of diversions in place and follow all signed detours.

Alternative routes into the city such as Graham Farmer and Kwinana freeways may be less disruptive. If you plan to continue using the Causeway, please allow extra travel time as delays are expected. Motorists are urged to be patient and courteous when merging to allow traffic to flow effectively.
