Recognising accessibility on WA roads

International Day of People with Disability is celebrated each year on 3 December, and we want to shine a light on what we’re doing to improve accessibility and how we’re shaping the way, now and into the future.

We have worked on projects like Pedestrian Priority Zones; where through our efforts with City of Perth transformed streets to prioritise pedestrian access with safety features, including:

  • clear wayfinding
  • a combination of kerb designs
  • raised sections of road
  • ramps
  • flush crossings with tactile ground indicators

For those who love to hit the road, we are continuously looking to improve our rest areas, most recently by laying more hard standing ground between rest area facilities.

We strive on ensuring people with a disability have the same opportunities as other people, and using their experience to help Visit the International Day of People with Disability website to see how you can get involved.
