We invite you...
If you are interested in seeing real-time cameras monitoring Perth traffic at our Traffic Operations Centre, we offer tours for groups during business hours.
Bookings are essential for tours of the Traffic Operations Centre (telephone 9323 4848) and:
- require a minimum of seven people per tour but no more than 30 people per tour;
- run for approximately 45 minutes; and
- visitors just need to be aware that a 'no backpack' policy applies, so backpacks will not be permitted in the Traffic Operations Centre.
We welcome you to take advantage of this unique opportunity to view a state-of-the-art facility and gain an insight into traffic management in the metropolitan area.
- The Traffic Operation Centre uses a variety of computer applications to monitor and analyse road traffic conditions 24-hours a day and is also a central contact point for real-time traffic information.
- Groups can view operations from the purpose-built mezzanine level, which is also equipped with a specially designed interactive station. This demonstrates exactly how the systems work and gives a practical insight into traffic management within Western Australia.
- Tours include an overview of the centre, a video that explains the construction and maintenance of the Graham Farmer Freeway traffic tunnel and how traffic is managed in the metropolitan area.
To find out what really happens on WA roads, organise a tour with Main Roads to see it for yourself!
