HVO Updates provide you with important information about temporary or permanent changes to the road network that Main Roads is aware of, such as permit conditions; roadworks; changes in road conditions; and emergency detours.

It is your responsibility to ensure you are aware of any changes to the network via HVO Updates.

Operators that are not accredited may only apply for up to four single trips of any type per calendar year.

What permits are available for oversize/overmass vehicles?

Class 1 RAV Oversize Period Permit: This permit is for the transport of large indivisible loads. It allows for vehicles including low-loaders (with or without a dolly) to carry high, wide, long indivisible loads (5.5 m x 5.5 m x 30 m) for a three-year period. These operating conditions can be used in conjunction with the Class 1 RAV Overmass Period Permit. For vehicles (or vehicles carrying loads larger than these provisions) a specified journey permit must be obtained..
Class 1 RAV Overmass Period Permit: This permit is for the transport of heavy indivisible loads. It allows for vehicles including low-loaders with rows of four tyres (with or without a dolly) to carry extra mass in excess of the Vehicle Standards Regulations (87.5 t for some combinations) for 12 months. These operating conditions can be used in conjunction with the Class 1 RAV Oversize Period Permit. For vehicles carrying loads heavier than these provisions, a specified journey permit must be obtained.
Class 3 RAV Oversize Divisible Products Period Endorsement: This permit is for the transportation of divisible products that are impractical to carry within the regulation dimensions for height and or width. The conditions apply to certain vehicles carrying wool bales, concrete pipes and hay and straw bales only (an Endorsement is added to the Class 2 & 3 RAV Supplement Permit).
Single Trip (Specified Journey) RAV Permits:

Oversize: This permit is available for large, indivisible loads that exceed the dimensions of the Class 1 RAV Oversize Period Permit or the Vehicle Standards Regulations.
Overmass: This permit is issued to vehicles with large indivisible loads exceeding the Vehicle Standard Regulation mass limits.
Combination (oversize and overmass): This permit is issued to vehicles that exceed the dimensions and weight of the Vehicle Standards Regulations and are outside the scope of the overmass and oversize period permits. All platform movements are covered by Single Trip Combination Permits.
