Specified Journey (Single Trip) Permits - New Considerations for Ground Contact Width Spread for Low Loaders and Dollies with Eight Tyres per Axle
Following a request by Industry, Main Roads has introduced revised mass limits inconsideration of operators spreading low loaders and dollies to 3.5 metres. Until now, allowable mass has been determined on the basis of either a 3.0 metres or 3.7 metres spread, with no intermediate spread.
Effective immediately, when applying for a Single Trip Permit with extra mass on low loaders with rows of eight tyres, one of the following three spread settings may be nominated: 3.0 metres, 3.5 metres, or 3.7 metres.
To assist you in determining which is the most appropriate spread to suit your loading, the table below has been constructed as a guide for application on our prescribed heavy Haulage Routes showing the maximum allowable mass with and without supervision at bridge crossings.
