Main Roads advises that Version 3 of the Class 2 and 3 Restricted Access Vehicles Period Permit will take effect from 25 March 2008.

The Period Permit has undergone a review, which identified a number of improvements and enhancements, such as the ability to cart over length containers.

While over 2000 new roads have been added to the networks, a small number have been removed.  Operators are reminded that it is their responsibility to make themselves aware of these changes.

The release coincides with the Government"s plan to effectively manage freight in the southern suburbs of Perth, that is, the introduction of truck restrictions on Leach Highway and South Street.

The Period Permit documents will be available to download from the Main Roads" web site today (www.mainroads.wa.gov.au). Additionally, a new CD-ROM will be posted to all holders of a Class 2 and 3 Period Permit this week.
