HVO Counter Service Arrangements

Main Roads HVO office in Welshpool provides a prompt “while you wait” service for customers seeking information and advice, publications or the more straight-forward types of Restricted Access Vehicle (RAV) permits.  This works well where the service requested by the customer does not require a high level of assessment.

Operators are reminded that applications to carry large indivisible items, outside of the parameters of existing period permits, continue to be assessed as Single Trips to ensure that safety and road preservation issues are fully considered.  This process takes time and often requires input from other areas such as Main Roads Structures Branch or other agencies.

There has been a noticeable increase recently in the number of Single Trip permit applications being submitted over the counter, as some companies have recognised that counter transactions may be given higher priority than applications submitted by fax or post.

To ensure all customers are treated equally, we seek industry support to address this problem by companies not expecting “while you wait” counter service for Single Trip Permits.

If you have any queries, please call (08) 9311 8450.

Thank you for your cooperation.
