Main Roads is using Safe Systems on two major projects to ensure that the objectives are considered and improvements made to the projects, to make them more forgiving of human error. This will result in a safer road for all road users.

The New Perth Bunbury Highway project established a Safe Systems Working Group, which has resulted in changes to the design of the Highway. As part of their work, a logical framework has been developed.

Future Possibilities

Main Roads is currently applying Safe Systems and the Vision Zero Logical Framework to the Indian Ocean Drive - Lancelin to Cervantes project. Work to date has been assessing the areas of greatest crash risk for road users and determining appropriate solutions.
