Auditor continuous development

Main Roads and IPWEA have agreed that from the 30 June 2006, Senior Road Safety Auditors must team lead TWO road safety audits over TWO years to remain an accredited Senior Road Safety Auditor on the Main Roads website. All Senior Road Safety Auditors must also ensure they register their audits with us to remain accredited.

Audit Report Registration

Where we commissioned the audit, please forward us your registration with a full copy of the report. Where the audit is not commissioned by Main Roads, only the registration form is required.

Audits submitted for registration to the Road Safety Section are not checked to determine if the technical content has been appropriately distributed to asset managers for consideration. Persons or organisations commissioning an audit must ensure that the report is submitted to the relevant asset managers (State Government, Local Government or other) as a process separate to the audit registration. Completed forms (and copies of reports commissioned by Main Roads) should be sent to:

Brian Kidd
Road Safety Manager
PO Box 6202
East Perth   WA   6892
roadsafety@mainroads.wa.gov.au

Audit teams

Main Roads requires that any audit carried out on us or on highways under our control, are led by an accredited Senior Road Safety Auditor.

It is required that audit team members are independent of any specific planning, design, construction or maintenance of the road infrastructure under consideration.  Also, other than in exceptional circumstances, we require that an audit be completed by more than one person and with representatives from more than one organisation.

Local government authorities may have different requirements with regard to audit team composition.
