Roe Highway Stage 7, from South Street to the Kwinana Freeway, has now been completed and was officially opened to traffic on Sunday 12 March 2006. This completes the final stage of the major thoroughfare linking the Great Northern, Great Eastern, Reid and Tonkin Highways with the Kwinana freeway.
An Alliance contract comprising Main Roads, Clough and Maunsell delivered Roe Highway Stage 7 for the Western Australian State Government.
The final 4.5 km section from South Street to the Kwinana Freeway completes the 34 km trip from Midland and construction was made possible through $51m in funding from the State Government and $24m from the Federal Government.

Karel Avenue / Hope Road Connection
Primarily driven by Jandakot Airport and the community, a new bridge that will see the removal of the level crossing on Karel Avenue has been added to the Roe Highway Stage 7 project scope of works.
This connection provids improved and direct access to airport facilities from Roe Highway and Karel Avenue and frees up traffic movements in the area.
Community preference was for a direct connection between Karel Avenue and Hope Road with Berrigan Drive forming a 'T' junction into Hope Road. However, due to technical and safety requirements, the final configuration is a roundabout connecting the three roads.
Work on this section commenced in October 2005 and was opened on 13 July 2006.

Roe Highway Stage 7 is the final stage in the major thoroughfare linking Middle Swan to the Kwinana Freeway and towns further south.
The highway was extended 4.5 km west from South Street in Leeming to connect with Kwinana Freeway south of Farrington Road. It consists of two lanes in each direction with allowance for future widening to three lanes. It has full traffic interchanges at South Street, Karel Avenue and Kwinana Freeway.
